Goo·gle

  (gōō'gəl)
A trademark used for an Internet search engine. This trademark often occurs in print as a verb, sometimes in lowercase: "A high school English teacher ... recently Googled a phrase in one student's paper and found it had been taken from a sample essay of an online editing service" (Chris Berdik).

Google Translate

An amazing tool to translate a word, phrase, or entire document

Sites for Teachers

This has some great links to actual classroom and school use of Google tools!  Get some ideas!

Google for Educators

This is a good starting place to look at the many things Google does for education.  There are many examples of real schools and how they use Google.  There are videos and various lesson plans you can access.

Google Docs Blog

Although this says "Back to School", I think it gives a great picture of how google tools can be used!

Google Sketch Up

My son loved this program and started using it in 2nd grade!  There are so many possibilities!  This link will take you to the site that explains and gives you the download link!  I will try to find some of my son's Sketchups to show you!

Google Earth

If you have never tried this, you are missing out on some fun!  Kids love to put their addresses in and watch it come from an earth view, all the way in to the view to their neighborhood!  Think about the possibilities of incorporating into your reading when your story takes place in......... Then the kids can really see what the real world there looks like!  This link will take you to a site where you can download!  With Google Earth you can even explore the ocean floors, the moon, and even Mars images that are updated hourly!

Google Lesson Plans

Using Google apps, you can see some of the lessons that have been created.  You can search by which app, grade level, and subject level you choose!

Google Docs

This site allows you to create a Google account to access email, word processing documents, spreadsheet documents, presentation files, and more!  Students no longer have to have the same program you have on your computer to do their work away from school with Google Docs!  You can even upload your own Microsoft Office Files here and have them everywhere you go (all you need is the Internet!)
